Book and score will run for only 8 performances, July 31, - Aug.9. INTO THE WOODS, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, is based on the authentic version of fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm. Sondheim and Lapine have woven a wonderful blend of music, dialogue and favorite storybook characters together into a spellbinding tale of magic and laughter.

This is a difficult show for Stars 2000 to tackle and showing them the way into this adventure is director, Todd Ewing, assisted by vocal director and choreographer, Diane Kamrin. The set designer is Chris Barela, costumes are by Carol Edlinger and the lighting designer is Dave West.

The characters involved include: the simple and honest Baker (Dan Small/Eric Evenskaas), his practical wife (Gelsey Calmer/Jamie Scurran), the implacable Little Red Ridinghood (Kaylyn Peterson/Jessica Magers-Rankin), a witch that can rap as well as zap (Alysha Umphress/ Vanessa Lucero), a friendly narrator to tell the story (John Gay/Bryan Rucker), the soulful and kindly Cinderella (Melanie Smock/Amanda Santy), her charming Prince (Rob Petersen/ Gene Wood), brave Jack in the Beanstalk (Nick Dothee/ Adam Elsberry) with (Emily Wood/ Michelle Solomon) as his mother, Cinderella's wicked stepmother (Stephanie Harwood/Caroline Wolter), the vain and silly stepsisters (Krissy Wall/ Nikki Nickerson/ /Heather Janofsky/ Liz Seaton), the scary Wolf (Aaron Antonali), Granny (Jenna Hamerling),Rapunzel's Prince (Jesse Garcia/Chad Deverman) Cinderella's mother (Katherine Potts), the Mysterious Man ( Ken Kamrin/Mike Barnett) and the Giant (Annie Gloyn). Others in the cast include: Stephen Kling, Dea Franck, Camy McGath, Mark Mendelson, Trenton Price and Adam Winship. They all go INTO THE WOODS on a quest for their wish, certain that they will be "happy ever after". But will they and what will happen in the "ever after"?

Show dates are July 31, August 1,6,7,8 at 8 p.m. and August 2,8 & 9 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $10.00 with a special price of $8.00 for seniors & youths or groups of 15 or more. For reservations call the Box Office at (925) 943-7469.
