Rena Wilson began performing in musical theater at age 8 and now divides her time
between performing
and instructing acting, voice, and dance. She is currently in the cast of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon. She is a Bay Area Critics Circle Award Winner for her portrayl of Ruby in Dames at Sea.
Her many Bay Area credits include Diablo Theatre Company’s Hello Dolly!, The Music Man, Brigadoon, and Peter Pan. Rena has a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from San José State University. Learn more at www.hirerena.com |

Diablo Theatre Company Performing Arts Academy's offers young adults ages 13 to 20 the opportunity to explore dramatic arts through theatrical performances and professionally taught classes and workshops. Our program caters to all levels of experience, from the novice performer who has just discovered a love for theatre to those who want to build on their theatrical training. Young adults learn theatrical arts skills while building self-esteem and confidence, and making new friends.

If you're planning on going to college for performing arts then auditions are looming and your questions are mounting. What is a contemporary monologue? Where do I find the right one for me? How do I approach classical work? How do I present myself in the interview? What is the difference between up-tempo and ballad? Where do I find a comedic song? How do I prepare? Is my preparation enough from my own school? How do I fill out paper work and write essays? Diablo Theatre Company’s Performing Arts Academy College Audition Workshop will give you the tools to forge ahead with confidence. Teaching Artists Ryan & Lisa Drummond and College Advisor Ellen Smith will give you the knowledge you need to be prepared for your college audition. This workshop has a limited enrollment. “Tap your troubles away” in this fun-filled, high-energy tap class while building your tap technique for the stage. Learn and perfect skills needed for musical theatre auditions and shows such as: time-steps, cramp-rolls, buffalos and many more. Study history of influential tap choreographers such as Gower Champion and Savion Glover. All levels welcome.
Class will include Jazz warm-up, Across-the-Floor, and a combination based on a specific choreographer or style.

Build your jazz technique for the stage. Learn and perfect skills such as turns, combinations and musical theatre style. Study history of influential musical theatre choreographers such as Bob Fosse, Michael Kidd, Susan Stroman, Jerome Robbins, and Agnes De Mille. All levels welcome.
Class will include Jazz warm-up, Across-the-Floor, and a combination based on a specific choreographer or style.
